SD Bay 1/2/08

Well this is hopefully the first of many fish reports for the new year! My goal is to always right up something about every day I go fishing, with or without clients. Last year was a huge struggle to juggle both my Irrigation Consulting job and my guiding job and try to write fish reports! So it never really got updated like it should have. But now is a new year and I plan to always write something up! It may not be a Hemingway story, but there will be something! I will also try to include at least one photo with the report. So stay posted for more to come…
I needed to run Reel Hooker since she had not been back on the water since my Mag Bay trip. So Terry and I decided to do a day in the bay to run the boat and see if we could find some new fish locations for the upcoming Bass tournament. Unfortunately we didn’t find much fish but instead found cold and damp weather!
The bay water temperatures ranged between 56.8 to 57.8 with very little tide movement all morning. We started back around bouy 22 and then slowly made our way towards the mouth of the bay. We did not find any one spot producing for us with only a few fish to show for the entire morning. It was one of the most unproductive days I have had in years. But it had been a while (at least 2 weeks) since our last fish so it was great to get out on the water. Besides, we like to get our “bad days” of fishing out of the way before the tournament!
By 11am we ended the day with no fish over 2lbs and only 4 to weigh in. But it still beats any day at work!
Until the next report, tight lines!
